Project Idea: Antiwar Tuesday

What if every Tuesday, we all did something small to express our opposition to the war? Nothing huge or organized, just slightly out of the ordinary, and in solidarity with strangers from all over the country. It's not going to stop the war, obviously, but it at least affords the opportunity to try, and show your support for other people doing the same.

Possible actions could include not buying gas, wearing a black armband, drawing a peace sign on your hand, not shopping, skipping work or class, shouting "STOP THE WAR" at the top of your lungs, putting up a flier, calling your congressperson or the president, or whatever else you can think of.

Every Tuesday.

Thoughts? Is this something you would do? Would you help launch a Facebook group for it? If I posted an open thread every Tuesday asking how you participated, would you leave a comment?

start a food not bombs group. every tuesday, my friends and i feed hungry people in a de-politicized version called food for thought. helping the needy without any religious or political agenda is my idea of the ideal way to positively affect your community.

we'd have to do something

we'd have to do something coordinated--you know, whatever cooky thing we pick, we'd all do the same one, i think, for it to work.  also, skipping work or class?  not an option for most people.  i'd get fired and flunk.  and i'm not willing to do either.  but the arm band or peace sign or shouting or something all sound good.

I dunno, I think it's better

I dunno, I think it's better to keep it open. See, the strength to it is that everyone gets to self-determine how they participate... maybe YOU can't skip work, but I can. So you wear your armband, I skip work, Tom shouts END THE WAR, Bonnie wears a peace sign, etc, but we're all in unison with each other, no matter what way we choose to participate.

Is the idea to have a small

Is the idea to have a small organized protest each tuesday or to simply show our solidarity somehow each tuesday? I'm confused.

Peace and love,

Joe!

also for what it's worth, I'm basing this idea off of another one I'm involved in organizing. eventually, I'd like us to be in a position to support them.
