Reduce Refuse Reuse Recycle

this is how we live
I dont really know what i want this group to be:
an exchange of ideas about green design
tips on diy recycled design
info about new design(ers) and events
recent news (did you know they can use cow manure to make floor panels? it takes the place of saw dust, AMAZING!)
i guess all of that.
i just want to reach some people and maybe convince them to reupholster an old chair instead of buying a new one, recycle your clothes, and when you do buy new stuff, why not buy products that incorporate recycled design instead of fresh clear cutting?

The Gap: Organic Cotton without breaking a sweat(shops)?

Gap just released its new organic cotton line, including t shirts and... oh wait, thats it, nice....

Big companies like Nike and Gap have very strict anti-sweatshop labor policies which they break all the time anyway, but I wonder if this new organic cotton "line" will break the rules as well? That would just be too horrible and ironic, "sweatshop organic cotton! pick it up at your local gap, dont worry, there are probably 3 in your local mall"

it all comes down to what people want more, pesticide free clothing or clothing produced by fair labor. of course ideally, we could have both, but big corps dont see it that way.

Just like the cow-poop floor, turning waste into fuctional materiels is sooo cool.
It turns out elephant dung is chock-full of the fibrous materials ideal for making paper.

I love cardboard furniture. One because you can make it yourself, two because its a lot better way to recycle cardboard. Designers are starting to sell cardboard furniture, but for some reason its way expensive....
