So I walked into the kitchen last night to make dinner and I could hear my mom helping my little brother with his history homework in the other room. He's in 8th grade, learning about American government. She was teaching him how the presidency and Congress work, what the amendments are, etc. She told him how the president has to take an oath before he takes office.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
But it's all bullshit.

It's a great speech. After the jump, excerpts from an op-ed he co-published last month with two other members of the House Judiciary Committee, Reps Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI).

In a stunning move sure to shake up Capitol Hill, this morning the Jedi Council voted unanimously to endorse the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
The text of the resolution accuses the unpopular leaders of torture, illegal domestic spying and repeatedly lying in order to start an unnecessary war.
Jedi Master Yoda did not rule out the possibility that he might use the Force to put impeachment on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s table.
“Against the Constitution serious crimes committed have been,” he told reporters. “Impeach we must.”

From an email:
Yesterday, despite overwhelming public opposition, President Bush commuted the sentence of Scooter Libby, the former White House Chief of Staff to Vice President Cheney who was convicted by a jury of lying about a matter of national security. As yet another example of the elitist attitude that defines Republicans in Washington, he shamelessly put partisan loyalties before the fundamental American value of fair and equal justice under the law.

The Senate Judiciary Committee asked the Bush administration to give up the papers as part of its inquiry into the controversial spying programme.
The administration has refused a series of requests to release the documents.
The president rejects claims that he broke the law by ordering surveillance without first securing warrants.

If MoveOn started advocating for impeachment, that'd put a hell of a lot of pressure on Dems to pressure Bush harder. Well, they've been floating the possibility to members. This is a simple petition meant to encourage the MoveOn leadership to work toward impeachment.
